Coach Klay Konrad is a lifelong wrestler with over 34 years of experience as an athlete and coach. In high school, Coach Konrad achieved success at various levels including being a 2-time WIAA state qualifier placing 2nd as a senior, he went on to qualify for the NJCAA national tournament as in college. After college, Coach Klay joined the U.S. Army where his wrestling background and hard work earned him the title of Special Operations as an Army Ranger. After multiple overseas deployments, Coach Klay returned to Wisconsin where he was an assistant wrestling coach for the Appleton East, then Freedom High Schools. As the head coach of the HMS/GMS wrestling program, he is excited to be a part of an incredible wrestling tradition and is dedicated to passing his knowledge and work ethic on to our middle school wrestlers. Coach Klay can personally attest how wrestling helps prepare young athletes for life through hard work, discipline, and mental toughness.
